Dambusters Raid - RAF bombing of Ruhr Valley Dams

Giannis Asimakos is here from Greece with his very attractive and beautifully built 1/144 Hasegawa NAMC YS-11.  Giannis added scratchbuilt details in the cockpit as well as the wheel bays.....which is quite impressive when you consider this is 1/144 scale.  The markings are from an aftermarket sheet for Olympic Airways.  Excellent looking airliner Giannis.

Alvis 3.1 is here with one of the more creative and bizarre egg planes I've seen.  This is his 1/32 Pysanky Racing Team which was a special Ukrainian Republic racer entered in the 1940 Cleveland Air Races.  Alvis 3.1 has the full and almost forgotten history of this historic race in his article.  Nice one Alvis....it was a hoot to see and also a hoot to read about this one.

Mark Chen has done an exceptionally fine job on his 1/48 AFV Club F-5S Tiger II.  Mark chose a Republic of Singapore Air Force F-5 complete with 3 tone camo scheme and a full weapons load.  Marks explains the history and differences of the RSAF F-5's in his article.  Beautifully done Mark.....your F-5 is a beauty.

I've arrived at my destination......the Philippine island of Boracay.  This place is your classic south pacific tropical tourist destination....but with all the wonders of the Filipino culture....friendly people, amazing service and the tasty Filipino food.  If you're ever heard of Puka Shell necklaces.....on the north end of this island is a place called Puka Beach and that is where the puka shell necklaces originated from..   I plan to spend 1 week here before heading home.

As for product articles.....I might not be doing many of those this week as all the products are back home, but I will do model gallery articles each day this week.

Kees Kuyper is here with the first photos of the NESA Space Station.  This is the space station constructed by the Netherlands Space Agency and it does use parts from the ISS.  Kees tells the whole story in his a article.

Ramon R. Lomeli has done an exceptional fine job on the 1/48 Revell F-15E.  Ramon chose a very special Desert Storm Eagle that scored a kill on a helo using a LGB.  Ramon had a happy accident regarding the weathering and he explains this in his article.  This is one very sharp looking F-15E

Serge Dompierre has finished his very colourful 1/48 Hobbycraft Hawk 75A. This is a Vichy French bird complete with colourful markings and a beautifully applied camo scheme.  It's always a tr4eat seeing Serge's latest model here on ARC.

Angelo M Picardo has done an exceptionally nice job detailing and improving his 1/144 Airfix Space Shuttle.  Used some aftermarket rocket engines and even sourced out an out of production decal sheet for the tiles on the underside of his Shuttle.  All this combined with Angelo's skill as a modeller turned his shuttle into a truly impressive model of the last shuttle to fly into space.

Wlad Franco-Valias is here with a very rare mark of the Spitfire.  This is his 1/48 Hasegawa Supermarine Spitfire Mk VI and Wlad explains in his article all the tiny changes he made on his Spitfire to make it a truly accurate long winged Spitfire MK VI with it's pressurized cockpit.  It is amazing to read what is involved....it's quite a fascinating read.

Murli Rajan is here with his quite impressive looking 1/48 Italeri MiG-27.  Murli finished it off in Indian air Force markings complete with a weapons load.  It's good to see aircraft in Indian markings.

Mark Forster got everything looking perfect on his 1/48 Eduard Focke Wulf 190D-11.  Mark built this beauty OOB and I must say the finished model looks highly detailed and first rate in it's flawless mottled camo scheme.  Lovely work Mark.

Bangladesh Independence and National Day

John McFarland has done a stellar job on his 1/72 Airfix B-70B Valkyrie.  This truly is a beautiful looking aircraft and John's model does it justice in everyway.....and his photos are first class and a complete joy to see.  I love the job you did on your B-70B John.

Alexandre Vidigal has done a marvelous job detailing and weathering his 1/48 Tamiya Fw190 A3.  Alexandre used gun barrels from Master-Model and dressed up the cockpit with photo etch from Eduard.  Markings are for a fighter stationed in France in 1942.  This Fw-190 looks perfect in every way.

Shawn "phantom" Weiler is here with his very colourful RCAF 1/48 Special Hobby H-21.  Shawn didn't find this to be a shake and bake kit, but in Shawn's capable hands it does build into a great looking model of the flying banana.  I'm pleased to see he has added photos of his display cases.  Enjoy.

Victor De Jesus has done a fantastic job on his big 1/32 Revell Eurofighter Typhoon.  Victor improved the detailing in a few critical areas but mostly built his shape looking Typhoon OOB.  He then gave  it a full weapons load to show what the Typhoon can do and finished it off in Luftwaffe markings....which always looks good.

Royal Navy - Sea Mosquito first carrier  landings (1944)

Giannis A. Asimakos is here to mark the Greek Independence Day with his 1/48 Gavia Westland Lysander Mk III.  This model was beautifully detailed using only scratchbuilt parts.  I love the way the instrument panel looks.  This is a fantastic looking Lysander.

GIANNIS DOXAS has done an amazing job super detailing his 1/48 Hobbycraft RT-33A "RECCE".   Giannis used a combination of Verlinden detail sets and plenty of scratchbuilding to detail almost every part of this Hellenic Air Force RT-33A.  Decals are from Icarus Decals of course.  WOW!!!

Christos Tourlis has done an impressive job on his 1/72 Italeri Hs129 B3 Tank Buster.  Christos gave his Hs129 a very careful weathering job to complete the look of his excellent looking anti-tank aircraft model.  I love it.

Pakistan Day

Phil De Keyser has done an exceptional job creating his tired and worn looking 1/72 Italeri Sikorski H19 B.  Phil has included some great photos of his H-19 that I know you are going to enjoy seeing.  It is amazing what you can do with paint and weathering.....simply amazing.

Ermanno Bonafin has added a large amount of detail to his 1/48 Hasegawa F-4E Phantom.  He converted his F-4 to  a "hard wing" without the slats and then added Eduard seats, exhaust, wheels, Sidewinder, PE and mask. After a flawless weathering job he finished it off with Eagle strike decals.  This is a flawless looking F-4....I loved seeing it.

Olivier Barles has created a very special 1/32 Hasegawa Mitsubishi J2M-3 Raiden ("Jack").  Olivier repositioned the rudder and then turned his attention to giving his Raiden a weathered with worn paint and replaced panels.  What I enjoyed quite a bit was all the tiny details Olivier added including a scarf attached to the handle on the windscreen.......and yes he added the handle as well.  Beautiful work Olivier.

Andrés "Cítrico" Fonseca Wilder has detailed or modified almost every area of his 1/72 High Planes Mirage Pantera.  The list of added detailing is long, but you really can appreciate the work when you see the photos of this Mirage Pantera.  I am very impressed and loved seeing it.

Sorry for the late update....my kids are off this week from school due to spring break....so I'm keeping busy with them.

K Diamond is here with a very well done 1/48 AMT F-18A.  Keith built this one OOB and although this isn't the best F-18 kit out there, that didn't stop Keith from turning it into a great looking Hornet.  Her did replace the seat with a True details seat and got some Superscale decals for  jet from VFC-12.

Malte "Razor" D. has done a first class build on the big 1/32 Trumpeter Vought F4U-1D Corsair.  Mike built this Corsair OOB, but considering the level in detail of a 1/32 kit......an OOB build is still a serious feat.  Mike gave his Corsair a weathering job and then finished it off with a very attractive set of markings.

Carmel J Attard has done a gorgeous job building and finishing his 1/72 Airfix Blackburn Buccaneer S.Mk1.  Carmel tells the story of the Buccaneer prototype visiting Malta on trials and then tell of all the owrk and modifications he did to create his Blackburn Buccaneer S.Mk1.  Carmel has an eye for accuracy and you will see that in his article and the photos of his model.

Konley Kelley is here with his digital artwork of his B-29 Superfortress and P-51D Mustang in 3D.  You'll enjoy reading about Konley's experiences with the CAF and the B-29 Superfortress "FIFI," as well as some of the story behind this artwork.

Namibia Independence Day

Chile - Anniversary of the Chilean Air Force

Guillaume "Blackjack" Lourdel did a beautiful job building and finishing his 1/32 Revell Piper PA-18-150 Float Plane.  I'm partial to float planes and I love the quality of work Guillaume did on this model.

J. Vlad has been very busy adding plenty of wonderful detail to his 1/48 Academy MiG-29A.  The aftermarket sets used included cockpit, wheel bays and exhaust nozzles from Aires and the correct radome and sensors by Quickboost.  As a final touch the panel lines were darkened and it was given Serbian Air Force markings. It's great to see a MiG-29 in Serbian markings.

David Walker is here with a very rare Zero today.  This is his 1/48 Hasegawa Mitsubishi A6M8 Zero with some very nicely done added detailing and then finished off with Zotz decals David knows his Japanese aircraft and this article was a pleasure to read.

Rod Bettencourt is here with a flawlessly built model of the classic 1/48 Monogram RF-101B VooDoo.  Rod rescribed the panel lines and then gave it a paint and weathering job that makes his model look like a real jet.......I was certain his photos were of a real jet when I first saw them .....his model looks that good.  Amazing work Rod....I love your choice of markings......very sentimental.

Alex Cimenti has put quite a bit of work into researching and building his 1/72 Italeri Royal Danish Air Force F-104G.  Alex used extra parts to improve the detail on his F-104G including homemade decals and his article is a wealth of valuable info about painting and building an accurate Danish Starfighter.

Gianni Cassi has used detail sets from 5 different aftermarket 1/48 Academy MIG-21R Fishbed H.  Gianni opened up the radar in the nose and fully detailed and corrected most areas of his MiG-21 before giving his jet a very complicated and quite attractive looking camo scheme.  As a final touch he displayed it on a awesome looking diorama base.  This MiG is a beauty..

David Qu has done an exceptional job finishing his 1/48 Tamiya A-1H Skyraider.  David got the weathering looking great and then showed his Skyraider as it was meant to be with a full weapons load,  I love the look of his Skyraider.

Carmel J Attard is here with an aircraft I've never heard of before.  This is his 1/72 Kora Blackburn Ripon 2, which is a resin kit which in Carmel's skilled hands builds into a very great looking model of this torpedo bomber bi-plane.  Carmel's article tells the full and quite interesting story of the Ripon 2.

Bernard Vogt is here with his excellent looking 1/48 Eduard Models Swiss Mirage III C with a flawless bare metal finish and wearing Swiss markings from Matterhorn Circle.  One interesting item on this Mirage is the AIM-26B Falcons from True Details.....Bernard explains about this in his article.  It's always great to see Swiss aircraft on ARC.

James Levingston has taken the older 1/32 Matchbox Spitfire Mk24 and reworked it with aftermarket detail items and some of his very well done scratchbuilding to make his Spitfire look fantastic. I admire the job James did on his Spitfire.....it looks fantastic.

Murli Rajan is here from India with his 1/48 Italeri EF 2000 sporting What-if markings for Indian Air Force jet.  Murli also gave his Typhoon a very subtle and realistic looking weathering job to complete this gem on a model.  The Typhoon looks very good in Indian markings.  It's always a pleasure seeing Indian aircraft models on ARC.

Terry Davis did a bit of added scratching to his 1/48 Roden Pilatus PC-6B-2/H-2.  The choice of markings was a very cool indeed and it is great to see a Pilatus PC-6B-2/H-2 wearing US Army markings.  Beautiful work Terry.....I love it.

Ermanno Bonafin is here with one of my favourite Italian jets.  This is his 1/48 FREMS Aermacchi MB-339A PAN Freccie Tricolori.  This is the Italian Aerobatic demo team and I saw them perform long ago at an airshow.  His model brings back fond memories of that hot summer day when red/white/green smoke filled the sky.  Beautiful looking model Ermanno.

Steve Ringlein has done an exceptionally fine job on his 1/32 Zoukei Mura A-1H Skyraider.  Steve dressed up the cockpit with aftermarket seatbelts and used hypodermic tubing for the gun barrels.  But it is the delicate weathering that makes this model stand out and look very realistic.  This Skyraider is totally amazing.

Shawn "phantom" Weiler is here with his very attractive 148 Hasegawa F-4S Phantom. Shawn used Eduard photo etch in the cockpit and True Details resin intakes and finished it off in Texas markings for a Group build here on ARC.  I love the Texas markings on this one.

Michael Robinson made this special 1/48 Tamiya F4U-1A Corsair for his Doctor at the VA.  The markings are for "Pappy" Boyington's plane "Lucybelle".  Although Michael built it mostly out of the box, he did work his magic on many small details to bring his Corsair to life.  Wow....enjoy the photos and read his article for the fill story on this build.

Leonard Prakasam joins us today with his very attractive 1/72 Hasegawa MiG-29.  Leonard did a first class job painting his MiG and finished it with the tail markings for a jet in ACM training.  I love this Indian MiG-29.

Steve Negley built this exciting looking 1/32 Hasegawa Republic P-47D Thunderbolt for a family member of a pilot that flew P-47's in the MTO during WW2.  Steve had very high praise for the quality of this Hasegawa kit and I must say the finished model looks great with it's lightning bolt tail art.  Steve got everything looking perfect on his P-47.

Burcin Emren joins us from Turkey with his perfectly weathered and very dirty 1/48 Hobbyboss F/A-18C.  Burcin gave his jet a full weapons load and finished his Hornet as a USN bird with VFA-22 the "Fighting Redcocks.  Looks excellent Burcin.

Greg Moss joins with his fully armed Australian 1/48 Dragon UH-1D Iroquois.  Greg used parts from a different kit as well as items from Fireball Modelworks to create this gem and then gave it an impeccable paint job.  This really is an attractive Iroquois.

Olivier Barles has done a wonderful improving the detail on the 1/32 Azur Polikarpov I-16, model 10.  Olivier gave his Polikarpov I-16 a great looking temporary winter camo and finished his fighter with a snow diorama complete with pilot foot prints.

K Diamond has been very creative with his 1/48 Monogram A-7I.  This is a What-if SAM killing Israeli A-7 with a resin cockpit and goodies borrowed from other models to get the weapons load correct.  It's an interesting design and the A-7 looks good in Israeli markings and camo.
