WW1 Events - this date in  1915

Andre Mimizu joins us today with his 5th article on ARC.  Andre combined various kits to create his 1/72 Focke Wulf P222.004 Schnellbomber (combo build) which is a design that never got off the drawing board with the Luftwaffe during WW2.  It's impressive how Andre was able to pull together this project from drawings.....it looks very realistic.

Kep Ar used a veriety of aftermarket items to create his highly detailed 1/72 Fujimi MIG-21 MF.   The camo and markings are for an Angolan Fishbed complete with a  full weapons load and a flawless weathering job including faded paint.  This is Kep Ar's 4th article on ARC and I look forward to seeing his next model on ARC when it is done.

WW1 Events - this date in  1915

Zhe Zheng is here with his 4th article on ARC.  I pleased to show you his 1/72 Tamiya Hs-129 finished in the very attractive winter camo including fill weathering for exhaust stains etc.  I love the look of winter camo on Luftwaffe aircraft. 

Konstantinos Vergos joins us with his stunning 1/48 Italeri Mirage 2000 EGM.  Konstantinos used a variety of aftermarket sets from Eduard to add detail and accuracy to the cockpit, engine, landing gear and bays.  Konstantinos added a pitot tube and a full weapons load then gave his Mirage a first class paint job with a subtle weathering job.

Burt Gustafson gets things started this Friday with his great looking 90th model here on ARC.  Burt built his 1/48 Hobby Boss FJ-4 Fury as the later bomber version complete with a full weapons load and the hi viz markings that were common for this time period.  Burt builds a large variety of aircraft and it's good to see his Fury on ARC to join his other 89 models.  Well done Burt.

Harv is here in a big way with his RCAF Lancaster x2.  Harv built both of these Lancs in honour of Kenneth Lussier DFC.  Harv did a splendid job on both of these big beauties and he has provided some history behind the aircraft.  I quite enjoyed seeing these Lancs by Harv.

Shawn "phantom" Weiler gets things started in fine style with his 1/48 Hasegawa F-8 Crusader in the markings of VF-13 Nightcappers  from the late 1960's.  Shawn has included others F-8's from his display case including photos of his display cases, which are quite impressive to see.  The F-8 is such a cool jet....well done Shawn.


Mike Pattison has a passion for the large scale models and today he joins us with his classic 1/32 Revell F4U1A Corsair.  Mike added seat belts to dress up the cockpit and then chose markings for an American Ace in the PTO and gave his model a full weathering job to complete his stunning Corsair.  Very nicely done Mike.

Order of Malta - St. John's Day

Mike Muth is here with his 3rd model on ARC and it is quite the beauty.  This is his 1/48 Eduard SSW D.III in a very striking Prussian blue lozenge pattern.  Mike has high praise for this Eduard kit and his finished model shows it does build up into quite the attractive Great War fighter.  Well done Mike.

Greg Kerry is here with a modern close air support diorama.  This is his 1/144 Academy General Dynamics F-16 bombing a 1/72 tank in a forced perspective.  Greg wasn't overly impressed with the quality of the model kits....but his skill has turned them into quite the engaging diorama.  Keep doing what you do Greg.

This sharp looking and beautifully finished 1/144 Airfix B747-200 is wearing the livery for Iran Air cargo using custom made decals designed and printed by Navid.  Welcome to ARC Navid....I hope to see more of your models on ARC in the future.

Ed Ellickson joins us today with his 3rd model on ARC.  This is Ed's 1/72 Special Hobby F2A-3 Buffalo in excellent  weathering as it appeared during the Battle of Midway in mid 1942.  Ed was very successful with the weathering on this beauty and he describes his weathering techniques in his article.  This one sweet looking Buffalo.

Vitor Sousa has added some extreme detail to his 1/72 HobbyBoss AH-64D Apache – I Saraf.  Vitor opened up panels to show off the added detail and then did some highly skilled painting and weathering to get this Israel AH-64 looking perfect.  He's included text in his 60 photos that fully explains the process of creating this masterpiece.  Exceptional work Vitor.

Carmel J. Attard joins us today with an early British jet.  This is his 1/72 Aeroclub English Electric P.1A which he made using parts from other kits as well as aftermarket parts plus his own high level of skill when it comes to such complicated projects.  It's good to see this early Lightning prototype...Carmel makes every project look so easy...well done Carmel.

Fermνn Cachσn Αlvarez starts today with Fermνn's first article on ARC.  This is the 1/72 Airfix A-4B Skyhawk for a jet on display at the USS Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.  Fermνn darkened the panel lines and finished his Skyhawk as a clean museum bird.  I'm honored to have Fermνn's A-4 on ARC and I hope to see more of Fermνn's models on ARC in the future.  Welcome to ARC Fermνn!!!

Zhe Zheng had a challenging time building the multi-media 1/72 Special Hobby DAP Beaufort Mk.VIII.  This kit required plenty of dry fitting and adjustments but the finished model in it's Australian markings looks excellent.  It's really good to see a second Beaufort on ARC.

Iceland Anniversary of the Establishment of the Republic

WW1 Events - this date in  1915

Stanislav Lelko worked for 5 months to get all the tiny details perfect on his 1/48 Revell Curtiss SB2C-4 Helldiver. Stanislav used Eduard photo etch on the interior and exterior plus PE flaps.  He then wrapped if all up in a truly eye catching attractive multi-shaded blue paint scheme with full weathering.  I loved seeing this Helldiver from every angle.  Seeing this Helldiver makes me want to build one of these as well.

Dragan Cvetic has dropped by today with his 55th article on ARC.  This is Dragan's 1/72 Italeri A-10A finished as a Desert storm Warthog.  Dragan detailed up the cockpit with his usual scratchbuilding skill and then gave his tank buster a weapons load and an amazing shading job on the panel lines.  Dragan really does have talent..

Mike Pattison had a good time building his 1/32 Hasegawa FW 190A-8.  Mike added seat belts to dress up the cockpit detail and then added some rivets to further detail the exterior before be went to town on the Luftwaffe camo and battle weary weathering job.  Excellent work Mike.

Paul Fernadez is here with his 6th article on ARC.  This is his flawless looking 1/72 ESCI F-5A in the markings for the Philippines Air Force using custom decals.  Paul even dressed up the cockpit with a resin seat for that added detail.  I love the runway photos Paul shot of his F-5.

Phillip Steele starts today with his stunning example of the 1/72 Italeri Fiat CR.32 Chirri.  Phillip chose to finish his attractive little Bi-Plane as an Italian Air Force fighter that fought in the Spanish civil war and the artwork on the fuselage of a Knighted turkey is very cool indeed.  This one came out looking excellent and I love the choice of markings.

Shawn "phantom" Weiler joins us with his big beautiful bare metal 1/32 Hasegawa CF-104 Starfighter, #25. Shawn dressed up his F-104 with a True Details cockpit set and then finished it off with markings from Canuck decals.  I love the look of these bare metal Starfighters and Shawn's model look particularly good.

Rod Bettencourt joins us today with his 1/32 Hasegawa Ju-87D-8 Nachtschlacht which is his 5th model on ARC.  This Stuka in 1/32 scale is quite the grand model and Rod chose an eye catching camo scheme from Italy from the summer of 1944.  Rod got all the interior details looking exceptional with his skill and some aftermarket goodies and finished it all off with just the perfect amount of weathering over this very rare camo scheme.

Dragan Cvetic did quite a bit of work on his 1/72 Zvezda Mi-24V including rescribing the panel lines.  This is a Russian helo as it appeared in 1999.  Dragan put the extra work into this model and he was rewarded with a great looking and well detail model of this classic gunship.

Carl Gootzen joins us with his 11 article on ARC today.  This highly detailed 1/72 Roden Zeppelin-Staaken R.VI in all it's WW1 glory.  This was a huge and complicated bomber with it's Lozenge camo and multi-engined bi-plane design.  Carl is well known on ARC for tackling complicated modelling projects and this bomber came out looking first rate.  Carl tells the sad fate of this particular bomber as well as some history about this rare type of aircraft. It's always a special treat seeing a model by Carl on the ARC homepage.

Andrea Pomettini is here from Italy with her 5th article on ARC.  This 1/72 Airfix Douglas A-4B Skyhawk is special for Andrea, because it is the first time he's tried some new weathering techniques including a salt wash technique and post shading which both gave this USA Skyhawk a very realistic weathered look.  I'm very impressed at how good his A-4 looks.....I really enjoyed seeing the photos.

Paolo Yuen is here with his 67th article on ARC.  This is his stunning 1/48 Hasegawa EA-18G Growler with an aftermarket cockpit and intakes and exhaust nozzle along with photo etch to complete the stunning detailing.  Paolo gave his Growler a perfect weathering job.  This one is a beauty.

Mike Pattison is here with his 20th model on ARC.  This is his battle weary 1/32 Revell SBD Dauntless 5E during Atlantic operations with quite the weathering job.  Mike took this older kit and used his well honed skill to detail this classic kit into the masterpiece he has brought you today.  This Dauntless is awe inspiring.

  Battle of Midway (1942)

Mark L. Rossmann is here with his 53rd article on ARC.  This is Mark's flawless looking Indochina Hellcat - 1/48 Hasegawa Hellcat that is a repainted model that Mark originally built in the 90's.  Mark has included some very interesting history of the French Hellcats in the Skies over Vietnam as the French tried to reclaim the former colony after WW2.  Mark added very realistic weathering to his Hellcat.  I always love seeing Mark's latest model on ARC.

Ramon R. Lomeli is here with his 16th article on ARC.  This 1/48 Airfix Hawker Fury, SAAF, 1941 is Ramon's first bi-plane and I'm quite impressed with his results....rigging can be a challenge, but Ramon got his Fury looking first class.  This particular aircraft served in Ethiopia in 1941.  Beautiful work Ramon.

Italy National Day

Alex Cimenti is here to honour the Italian National Day with his 1/72 Italeri F-104 G/S I.A.F. duo wearing Italian markings.  Alex did some extra scratchbuilding and equipped one with a training weapons load and the other one with interceptor an weapons load.  The Italian Starfighter wore an attractive camo and Alex's jets look fantastic.

Zhe Zheng joins us with his 2nd article on ARC.  This is the 1/72 Italeri SM.79 wearing a very complicated camo as it looked in Sicily in 1942.  This particular SM'79 has the Italian Type W torpedo as a weapons load to complete the look and was built out of the box with excellent results.  It's a beautiful looking SM.79.

Greg Kerry is here with quite the action packed battle scene from the Battle of France in 1940.  This is Greg's 1/72 Hobbyboss Morane Saulnier MS.406 as it sweeps in at tree top level in support of ground troops battling enemy troops.  Greg has a talent for these ground support dioramas and this one is a beauty and quite the thrilling scene.  Excellent work Greg.

Burt Gustafson has done quite the impressive job on his bare metal Korean war Sabre.  This is Burt's 1/48 Hasegawa F-86F-30 Sabre Jet complete with artwork and colorful markings and sooo many stencils.  The USAF Sabres from the Korean War are a colorful bird that is a treat to see and Burt did this one up beautifully.  Very nicely done Burt.
