This new decal sheet from Yellow Hammer Decals includes markings for one of nine 1/48 F-4J Phantom II.  The recommended kit for these decals is the 1/48 Hasegawa F-4J kit.

This is a special decal sheet featuring markings for one of nine different RAF F-4's and this decal sheet focuses on a jet from with 74 Squadron when it attended the 28th NATO Tiger Meet in Cameri, Italy.

These are some of the 15 F-4J's that were purchased from the US to help fill the gap due to the delay in delivery of the Panavia Tornado F.2.  These jets had  for the Service Life Extension modifications done to them in California before delivery.  These jets were also fitted with USN (NOT RAF) Martin Baker H7 ejection seats.  This required the flight crew to wear US G-suits and survival packs with RAF flightsuits and helmets.

The artwork was painted after arriving at the meet and seeing the F-4E's from the 141st TFS with the New Jersey ANG.  The RAF crews were not to be outdone by the excellent artwork on the American F-4E's and the RAF crews headed into the local town, bought paint and proceeded to added the Tiger chomping the Soviet Star to the nose of their F-4J.  A very cool decal sheet to be sure.  Also of interest....the code letters on the back of these F-4J's add up to -T-I-G-E-R -S-Q-N-.  The Tiger scheme jet that is the focus of this decal sheet has the letter "S" on this tail.

The decals were flawlessly printed and the clear carrier film is trimmed very close to the crisply printed colored areas.  The colours look good and will cover very well.  The artwork is quite appealing for anyone with a love of RAF jets or Tiger Meet jets.  The instructions are clear and includes 2 view drawings.

A very nice decal sheet and a treat to see some markings for RAF Tiger Sqn jets.

I would like to thank Cutting Edge Modelworks for providing me with this review sample.
