A similar decal sheet is also available in 1/72 scale.

This latest decal sheet from Max Decals includes a varied and wonderful selection of helicopters that operated in the Antarctic.  This sheet includes 8 different types of helicopters from 5 different countries wearing a colourful variety different paint schemes.  The helicopters are from the USA, Argentina, Japan, Uruguay and Chile.  You get 11 helicopters in all.

As these are Antarctic helicopters, they have a large amount of orange paint on most of them for safety and visibility.  Six of these choppers feature penguin artwork of some sort and 2 of those helicopters have artwork that features the Antarctic continent with a chopper over it.  And other choppers on this sheet feature national flags and markings that adds further color to these already colorful paint schemes.

The 11 helicopters include the following:

  • Sikorsky H04S-3 from the icebreaker USS Glacier in 1956.

  • Sikorsky LH-34 operated by VX-6 in 1965 featuring Penguin artwork as well as artwork of the Mad Magazine character.

  • Bell 212 Uruguayan Air Force in the mid 1990's.

  • AS332B Super Puma, Argentina Army in the mid 1990's.

  • Bell 412, Chilean Air Force in 2009

  • Sikorsky S-55 Grupo Aeronaval Antartico Argentine Navy in 1968.

  • Sikorsky HUS-1L "Kingpin II" with VX-6 in 1957 featuring Penguin artwork.

  • Bell UH-1B US Army, in 2 paint schemes during 1962 - 1963 with both featuring Penguin artwork.

  • Bell UH-1D US Army, in 1969 featuring Penguin artwork.

  • Bell UH-1D US Navy VX-6 in 1970

  • CH-101 on board Japanese icebreaker Shirase in 2010 featuring Penguin artwork.

Max Decals has out done themselves on this decal sheet.  There is a great variety of paint schemes from a good selection of countries over a 54 year time period.  This is a great decal sheet and will be of great interest to helicopter modelers looking for some colorful variety.  I love the color and variety featured on this very unique and interesting decal sheet.

You can buy this and other great decal sheets directly from Max Decals.

I'd like to thank Max Decals for the review sample.
