The fifth plane is a Ki-61 Hein
type I-Hei (probably) flown by Corporal Seiichi Suzuki, Chofu AB, on Feb 1
1945. Corporal Seiichi Suzuki was shot down by an F6F on February 16 in
the midst of a dogfight with 20 USN fighters. This aircraft mostly white
with a red spinner and a red tail with a white lightning bolt. The leading
edges of the wings are partially yellow and there is a red stripe (included as a
decal) that runs the full length of the fuselage side. This
aircraft has 5 kill markings.
The quality of these decals is of
very good quality and are printed by Microscale. The decals themselves are clearly printed and in
perfect register. Some decals come in 2 layers to ensure perfect
registration. I very much appreciate the fact they include the stripes for
these aircraft as decals.
I love the Ki-61 and the
selection of decals on this sheet and the history behind these aircraft can't be
beat. The guys from Lifelike Decals live in Japan and they carefully
research their sheets and the 4 pages of text in the instruction sheets contain
reference info and battle stories of these particular aircraft (which makes for
very interesting reading). If you like the Ki-61 Hein then you
should serious consider picking up this decal sheet.
