We're very glad to bring
you a product announcement on the second release from Master
Details. This release is a 1/32 resin
cockpit replacement set for the 1/32 Hasegawa Bf-109, and is for the G-2
to K-4 versions. This is a very ambitious second effort from Stephen
Venters, and his skill at creating highly detailed masters is very evident
in this latest release.

WHAT YOU GET:
You're provided
with a complete cockpit replacement. Thirty parts in all, the set is
broken down into individual parts for the floor, sidewalls, and rear
bulkhead. This facilitates an easier paintjob of all of the fine
detail, plus it offers the modeler an opportunity to choose which rear
bulkhead he wishes to install. You can install the bulkhead which
includes the full parachute and harness, or alternatively, you can opt for
the rear bulkhead with the plain seat pan. In addition to all of the
resin parts, there is also an acetate sheet with parts for the Revi
gunsight. The set even includes a flare pistol, to be mounted inside
the windscreen.

In addition, there
are also provisions for backdating this particular set to the Bf-109F version,
when combined with the Aires Bf-109F Conversion Set. Detailing of parts is
extremely fine, including many separate parts for trim wheels, rudder pedals,
oxygen system, and other important details. All parts in my review sample
were very cleanly cast, with no broken parts, voids, bubbles, or short shots.
The set is very well packaged, and assembly instructions include an exploded
view of the set, as well as optional backdating instructions.
One thing that you won't find in
this set is a photo-etch fret. In Stephen's own words, "There are no
tedious photo-etched parts in this kit. We don't simulate detail, we
strive very hard to reproduce it! We have made every effort to reporduce
every nuance of the interior of the interior of this airplane as accurately as
contemporary reference will allow. We hope you agree."

In fact, if I had to offer one
caveat about the set, it's that some of the smaller parts are EXTREMELY petite,
and will require a great deal of care to prevent loss or breakage while
assembling the set. I'd suggest mounting the smallest parts to a small
piece of double sided tape to clean them up, and to go very carefully when
removing the small amount of flash present. This is especially true of the
chain drive for the trim wheels. However, the end result will be well
worth the effort, as the set is replete with fine detail, and would make a great
focal point for your next super-detailed 1/32 Hasegawa Bf-109 project. My
sincere thanks to Stephen Venters from
Master
Details
for providing the review sample, and I look forward to future
releases from
Master Details.
