This softcover book from HT Model Magazine is specifically devoted to the Petljakov Pe-2 and Pe-3.  This is  a soft cover book made from heavy weight glossy magazine paper, so it will hold up well to continued use.  The cover....(although a soft cover) is made from thick glossy paper and will hold together well.  The book is produced in Slovakia, so it is written in the Slovak language and comes with 4 pages in English to translate the main introduction text of the book, but the true beauty and value of this book is it's detailed walkaround photos, factory drawings and historical wartime photos of the Petljakov Pe-2 and Pe-3.

Although the Petljakov Pe-2 and Pe-3's could only carry a small bombload, they were the most produced short range Soviet bomber during WW2 and became the backbone of the the Soviet short range bomber forces during WW2.  This book has a large selection of photos......193 B&W photos and 160 colour glossy photos.  There are also 12 beautifully done colour profiles of various aircraft in Soviet, Finnish, German, Czech-Slovak, and Polish markings......I've included one colour profile below to give you a feel.  The photos in this book focus on most if not all the detail areas that modellers are obsessed with.  The photographer had the chance to climb all over more than one of these aircraft and capture photos of all the tiny exterior details that matter to modellers.  As well as photos of the landing gear, fuselage interior, guns, cockpit, exterior, and on and on.  This book is very well done book.

One very interesting part of this book is the huge selection of line drawings and original factory drawings explaining the internal components of the landing gear/bays, wings and internal framing, fuselage, gunbays, interior, cockpit, skis, canopy, rear cockpit, engine nacelles.

The 12 colour profiles are single side views to give you an idea of the layout of the camo.  Below I've include a tiny selection of some of the pages....out of respect to the producers of this fine book, I am not providing larger scans.

Helpful engine, gun, cockpit and other detail photos....some in colour.

I'm quite impressed with the quality of this book and I look forward to other editions from this company.  I recommend this book to all modellers planning on building this aircraft as a model.  I am quite pleased to add this book to my library.....it will prove to be a very helpful book in my reference library.  Special thanks to the folks at HT Model Magazine for the review sample and bringing this book to my attention.
