1/48 F/A-18 Hornet model kit

I bought this kit to see what it was like. It is definitely a kit to stay away from. It is as if they tried to copy the Italeri kit and throw in some monogram traits. It does have recessed panel lines. That is about the only plus it has.

The pilot looks exactly like one you would get with the Monogram Hornet. The cockpit tub looks like something you would find in an Italeri kit in regards to detail. The instrument panel looks like a cross between Monogram and Italeri. The seat has no detail what so ever. The landing gear doors are one piece and have no detail on the inside. The landing gear look like exact copies of Monograms right down to the placement marks for the tie down rings, but the kit doesn’t have any. The intake trunks are badly misshapen.

The fuel tanks are way undersized. The VER’s are completely wrong. The arrestor hook looks toy like. The missiles and bombs are very simple in detail. The wing tip rails look like they came out of the Italeri Hornet kits.

The landing gear bays are simple in detail.

The canopy is one piece. The decals are the worst I have ever seen. The instructions looks like some of the illustrations were copied from Monogram. Particularly the placement of the laser guided bombs. It looks exactly like what is on my Monogram A-18 instructions, right down to the FLIR pod that doesn’t come with this kit.
