Project U-564 Part 2

Gallery Article by Frank Dargies on Apr 28 2009

In March 2008 I started my project  "U-564", a VIIc  u-boat  under command by Kapitaenleutnant Reinhard "Teddy" Suhren.

After one year (with summer break) I have now finished the construction of all interior parts.

So here you can see part two of my project.

I completed the last two sections of interior: command section, bow torpedo room and used therefore CMK’s correspondent kits  "CMK Command Section"  and  "CMK Torpedo Section" and some parts from CMK’s "Provision Set".

For the crew  I  took some figures from the sets:  "CMK Crew at Rest II"  "CMK Crew with Binoculars"  "CMK Armament Crew in Port" .

Both sections were supplemented by some scratch built parts again. In this case:

additional valves, handwheels and tubes, handholds, compass, engine telegraphs, rudder indicator, speaking tubes, helmstand, nautical charts.

Open torpedo tube, air and waterpipes, firing lever and torpedo loading device.

Of course the crew is working as well. ;o)

For the interior paint I used following colors:

Inside above floor:   RAL 9003 =  Revell 5 matt white mit 2% Humbrol 41 Ivory

Inside below floor:   RAL 9002 =  Revell 5 matt white / Revell 69 granite grey  (98% / 2%)

Insid misc:                RAL 7000 =  Revell 57 matt grey

Also used:

Various ModelMaster Metalizer, washing and weathering with artist oils in brown and black.
