  Brazilian Independence Day 2008

These are the Brazilian P-47D´s that were used in Italy in 1944. The pilot of 'A1' aircraft was Asp Menezes and the kit is Revell 1/72, a very good and was built during the 3rd Superkits marathon in 24hours (http://www.superkits.com.br/?action=materia_public&id=1) .

The '2' aircraft pilot was Cap Lagares and is a Academy 1/72 kit. They operated for 1st Brazilian fight squadron (1a GavCa). This squadron was part of the USAF 350th Fighter Group. Between October '44 to May '45 this squadron did 455 war missions. 16 planes were knocked down by Germans and 5 pilots died. During the 6th to 29th of April the Brazilian group flew 5% of the total missions, they destroyed 15% of the German vehicles, 28% of the bridges, 36% fuel store buildings and 85% of the ammunition store depots.

I painted the kits using Humbrol polished aluminium (metal cote). Decals are FCM decals set 72-01.
