Turkey Victory Day 2008

Hello Dear Modellers!

This is my 1:72 Mig-21 Bis from Fujimi.  As you can see it is in Croat markings.  This ex-Yugoslavian Mig-21Bis ( black 103) was  hijacked by a Croat Pilot and taken to the Croat side in 1992 and the plane was named as 'Osvernik Vukovara-Revenge of Vukovar'.  Vukovar city was bombed heavily during the Bosnian civil war.  That is why Croats named plane as 'revenge'.  Just after plane passed to HRO (Croatian Air Forces) Croat markings, a knight nose-art and symbol of Vukovar city was painted on it.

Croat Air forces conducted some air-to-ground attacks against Bosnian based Serb forces.

Well, if we talk about the kit; better than Revell's F-13 version but one step behind of Zvezda's Mig-21, the only weak side of kit is cockpit.  The panel lines are engraved nicely, smooth decals and enough under wing stuff ( tanks, MG pod, air-to-air missiles) what else does a modeller want?

I used Gunze light grey for entire plane, for green parts, I used Revell's seagreen, for cockpit  Modelmaster bluegreen (Russian interrior) and Tamiya flat white for missiles.

As conclusion, it was fun to build just needed some extra work for nose and Tamiya putty dealt with that.  Also, this war experienced plane has a  hijacking story and Croat markings look pretty cool on it.  Don't you agree?

By the way I would like to send my regards to my bro Emad Tabsh from Lebanon..

Happy Modelling..
