Israel Independence Day 2008

A year and a half ago the "Orange Tail" squadron was reopened as the 3rd F-16I Sufa squadron. I had the luck to design the new squadron badge as well as the new tail art of the Sufas.

The new buildings built for the new squadron now possessed a new club for the squadron personnel which included the memorial corner with the names of the pilots and other persons that had been killed during the service with the squadron.  Another part of the club has the kill board which holds all the squadron's kills of enemy planes with the names of the pilot/navigator, location, date, type of weapon used and type of plane that was shot down.

Recently I've been asked to build all types of planes that where in use with the squadron and to put them in a glass case for display:

  • Spitfire Mk.9 - I used the Otaki/Arii kit

  • P-51D Mustang - I used the Hasegawa kit

  • Meteor F.8 - I used the Classic Airframe kit

  • Ouragan - I used the JMGT kit

  • F-4E Phantom - I use the Hasegawa kit

  • F-16I Sufa - I used the Hasegawa F-16D kit

The decals on the Ouragan and Meteor are from IsraDecal IAF-9 and IAF-25 respectively.

Some of the kits like the F-16I and the F-4 need to be converted. The others were built straight from the box.

The F-4E carry the RAFAEL "Tadmit" electro optical bombs along with their data link pod. I scratch build these bombs and pod. The refueling probe is from AirDOC. The decals are IsraDecal IAF-58 set.

The F-16I include the Isracast 48015 F-16I conversion as well as IsraDecal IAF-54 decal set. The 600 gallon fuel tanks are Isracast 48004 set. The Python 4s are from Paragon while the LGB from Hasegawa armament set #8. The seats are from Avionix.
