This is an out
of the box model except for a slight adjustment in the cockpit. I removed
the molded on map holder on the back of the pilot's seat and remade it
with paper maps and a masking tape pouch.
The rest of
the model was built as per the instructions.
The fit was a
bit off in places, especially around the transparencies.
The engine is
nicely detailed, but there is no option in the kit to display it, the
cowlings would require surgery to be able to position them open.
The plane is
in the markings of a machine belonging to V Corps Field Artillery of the
U.S. Army at the time of D-Day.
The
identification stripes are decals, but the ones for the wings are too
short and do not meet up so required a swift paint job to hide the gap.

The Jeep and
figures are "spares" I had built them for another project, but
it never happened!
The pilot, the
guy in the cool shades, is a resin figure which is included in the kit.
The other
figures are from Tamiya and Verlinden.
The base is a
piece of board covered in model railway grass matting which has been
weathered with various pigments.
I photographed the
model on a rare sunny day in the UK against a blue sky.
