Groovy Grader by Monogram

Silly Week 2006

"Need a drag strip in a hurry? Here's your baby! This has got to be the world's fastest road grader. The old diesel engine was ripped out and a big blown Rat motor was stuffed into the chopped and customized grader body. Four giant dual slicks are independently suspended on the rear axles. With a touch of that vintage look, a pair of antique side lights are mounted up front for night work, and the big chromed scraper blade is just looking for hills to level."

This is the Monogram reissue of the 1971 kit created from the mind of Tom Daniel, it was also the first kit I had ever built some 30 years ago. I found a replacement for the long lost original on EBAY ($12) and thought I'd try my hand at something other than military aircraft.

The model is finished in Testors spray enamel (1208 Gloss Light Blue) and standard Testors enamels. The original Yellow was pretty obnoxious so I went with a more unique color choice, plus the fact that I had the spray can which would never have been used otherwise...hehehehe

These are great kits with little or no shortcomings and are wonderful starter kits for for the younger crowd. The kit will also get oddball looks from others when posed with military models.
