  Israeli Independence Day 2005

Here's some photos of my latest model, a 101squadron F-16C in new 1948 vintage markings.

This 1/48 scale Hasegawa model was featured on the cover of the December 1995 issue of Fine Scale Modeler magazine as a Scorpion squadron bird. Over the past 10 years it yellowed out and was due for the scrap pile. When the First Fighter squadron adopted their new motif that was designed by our very own fellow modeler Ra'anan Weiss, the model was transformed to a current version as seen in the photos attached. For the decals, I used IsraDecal sheet IAF-42.

It was ironic that I completed this model on the day of passing of Ezer Weizman who was one of the founders of the 101 squadron. During his funeral, he was honored with a flyby of four 101 squadron F-16's in their new motif, shown here, that were trailed by Ezer's very own black Spitfire that he loved so much. A fitting tribute to the "Father of the IAF".
