McDonnell-Douglas F3H2 Demon
This is the Maintrack Models "Golden Wings" vac-formed kit of this aircraft.  The kit is has vac formed fuselage halves, wings, tailplanes, fin, and cockpit tub parts with white metal ejection seat and undercarriage.  It was constructed as usual way for vac-forms with sanding and some filler.  The perforated wing spoilers were mis-moulded by the vac-forming process so I sanded them off and replaced them with new ones made from drilled plastic sheet.

The fuselage air brakes were opened up and new perforated examples ones made by modifying ones on a spare photo-etched detail sheet for a Republic F-84.  I boxed in the speed brake housing using styrene sheet.  I replaced the white metal jet exhaust with a spare F4 example which is supposed to be the correct size.

The kit decals were used to depict a VF 31 "Tomcatters" aircraft aboard USS Saratoga in 1960.
