1/72 Revell C-54 Q Skymaster

The kit of the C-54 Skymaster from Revell offers a very good quality, good fit and very good detailing. Fortunately, in the kit also I found all the alternative parts (wheels, air intakes, exhaust pipes) that I needed to build my model. Only the additional windows in the cockpit roof are not provided. Here I polished the transparent part from the inside and then taped the windows.

When building the cockpit, the existing facility is quite sufficient.

For the painting I had planned anyway to show all doors closed, so the interior of the cabin only the bottom and the intermediate walls to stabilize the fuselage were installed. In front of the instrument panel, behind the cockpit and under the cabin floor about 70 g of lead was glued in, it's enough.

There were a few problems with the fit of the wings and the horizontal stabilizers.

For the belly tank I've built a master and let it mold.

A challenge was by this model the masking for painting, it's not succeeded one hundred percent. The large "76" on fuselage and tail were edited from photos on the PC, printed on paper, glued on masking tape and cut out with a scalpel. However, the transfer to the model turned out to be very difficult, I needed more than one try. For windows and wheels the Eduard masks were used. It was sprayed with Gunze H1, H24, Humbrol 19 and Revell 53. Only the lettering and the stars were created as decal.
