Sukhoi SU-37 in 1/72  Ace Combat Scheme

Hello- This is the Sukhoi SU-37 kit in 1/72 scale from Zvezda. The kit is extremely poor, and suffers from raised panel lines, lack of detail, and poor fit. I wanted to make it as good as possible without getting into photo etch, etc, so I tried to improve on the existing parts. Some of the improvements were: 1. Sanding down the top of one canopy piece so it would line up and butt against the other, 2. Re-scribe the whole plane, 3. Rebuild the cockpit so the pilot sat in the right position, added some scratch details and decals to the cockpit, 4. Added scribed lines to the exhaust nozzles (there were too few). 5. Added 3/8 inch length to the tail with styrene stock. 6. Added some styrene details to the front landing gear, Stole rear landing gear from another kit to replace the two "sticks" they gave me for the rear landing gear! 7. Added MV lenses to the front gear for the landing lights.

The only other non- kit part was a couple resin wing tip pods. The paint scheme and decals are from the Japanese Ace Combat Simulator games. Model Master Acryl was used everywhere except a few shades of Alclad for the engine areas. Camo patterns were done with a combination of frisket paper, and old fashioned taping. Thanks for looking and hope you enjoy!

The sensor in front of the windscreen was molded right into the canopy on the kit part and was horrible! I cut it off the windscreen and formed a new one with Sculpey clay. The clay worked out great because of all the compound curves needed.

Thanks to all the members for your great inspiration on this site!
