Here are a few photos of my finished 1/72nd Hawker Sea Fury kit produced by PM. I didn’t bother adding any aftermarket items to enrich this inexpensive kit but my elbow grease. The producer, PM, is famous for the thick plastic in their kits, so this build included a good deal of sanding, which moved away the already inadeqaute recessed lines. Trailing edges of wings were almost 1 mm thick. Having lost most of the details, I had to rescribe them and added some more while on the run. Overall fit was not so bad, except for the cowling, which seemed to belong to a totally different kit. I cut out where the wing tip lights were supposed to be, and made them out of clear sprue.

After pre-shading and painting, I masked the model carefully for the black/white invasion stripes. Painting white over black instead of the more reasonable black over white was an odd choice which made me struggle for some time, but it turned out alright in the end. After wing walks, I gave a coat of Tamiya X22. Kit decals were thick and behaved as if they weren’t reacting to Microsol, but they settled quite well without any silvering. I had to cut where they met recessed lines, though. Reference photos didn’t show much wear, so I found it enough with the exhaust stains and finished it with Model Master dullcote.

Dark color is Gunze 333, as specified. As fort he light color, there was no sky blue in my stash, so I mixed some light grey with RLM 65, which seemed OK to me. Invasion stripes were plain black and white of some Tamiya and Gunze. All acrylics.
