Spanish Air Force - 12th Wing

These are some pictures of one of my recent builds: Academy 1/72 F/A-18A. I built the Spanish version, an EF-18A+ although I did not really count all the rivets and examined the exact position of each single panel (nowadays we must always say this in advance, else someone will find for sure something in the finished kit!).

I added a few more details to this excellent kit (probably the best Hornet in 1/72 scale): Decals from Series Españolas (representing a terrific decoration worn on both vertical stabilizers, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Fighter Wing 12 or "Ala 12" in Spanish), and Eduard photoetched set for the cockpit, Wolfpack Design Flaps Down set for Academy F-18 and my favourite one, a Flightpath access ladder.

I also added some scratch built details in the interior of the canopy frame. I am quiet excited because a step by step article about this project will be included in a future issue of FineScale Modeler Magazine, and Spanish subjects are not very common to see in magazines (unfortunately!).

Looking forward to my next project (in the final stages at the moment): a 1/48 Hobby Boss F/A-18A from the Spanish 462 Squadron (Wing 46 or Ala 46) with decals from F-4Dable Models. Will show you pics of this kit one day, hopefully soon!
