1/32 Revell F-4F Phantom

Inspired by the Flyout of the last F-4Fs of Germany Air Force in 2013 I started to build a Revell Phantom. I did not use any other parts apart from what I found in the box. I found that not all parts fit perfectly together, so I had to do some work to make them fit together. Also the glue of the decals was not good, so air went between the decal and the model. So I put the decals on fresh painted transparent paint. Usually I build aircraft standing on the ground with open canopies, flaps down, maintenance doors open. So in most pictures of Phantoms the slats are open. So I used a saw to cut out the slats and pose them in the open position as it can be seen on pict. 6.

It is my challenge to built an aircraft as realistic as possible and photograph it also. Whether this has been achieved may be judged by the readers.

The decals show an aircraft which served with Jagdgeschwader JG74 at Neuburg/Donau in Southern Germany about 100km east of Munich. The Phantoms were replaced by Eurofighter Typhoons some years ago.
