I got
this kit from one of my best friends in late 2010. Then the project
for a model of Spitfire Mk.24 from RAF No.80 Squadron at Kai Tak base in Hong
Kong during 1951 was prepared. During the construction, some conversion
items, photo-etched parts, colored metal wire, metal pipe, metal stick from
my stock were used to upgrade the detail.

The following items were used in the conversion:
-
Airfix Spitfire Mk.22/24 kit (07105)
-
Eagle Strike decal sheet (48241)
-
Squadron Vac-u-form canopy (9576)
-
True Details resin main wheels (48016)
As the kit
stocked for long time, the original decals were completely not available.
Also the Eagle Strike decals were used for the Mk.24 VN317, but not
for the Mk.24 VN489. So I had to mask and paint squadron & plane code
(W2-A), serial number (VN489) and identification band on the fuselage and
wings.
The
project was finished on Dec.6th, 2013 in Shanghai, China.
