The next MiG-21 in my collection is in fact the first operational MiG-21. We had to wait a long time for a good 1/48 kit. Trumpeter made one this year. I always wanted to make a DDR MiG so here was my chance. It depicts an early "Nationale Volks Armee" MiG-21F13 of the German Democratic Republic. It has two air-air missiles.

The kit is better than the Academy 1/48kit, but not as good as the Eduard kits, those are my favorite. I used some spare Eduard decals. I noticed that the shape of the numbers of the Trumpeter kits are wrong. Eduard got them right. The nose shape looks wrong to. I think it is to wide. No doubt aftermarket stuff will become available to tune this kit to something very nice.

Painting was as always done with Tamiya paints and a wash to finish it.
