Here is the P47 D “ELSIE” stationed in England belonging to the 404 Fighter Group during the later part of the war before and after D-Day.  The missions where mainly interdiction missions and ground targets of opportunity in France.

The build went fine as usual with Tamiya kits.  The cockpit is a beauty and the control panel decal sinks into place magnificently using Solvaset and Sol.  I painted the aircraft with Valejo aluminium, acrylic burnt umber was applied to the panels only.  The decals are by Aeromaster.

NB: the real Elsie had a black antiglare cowling and was flown by the squadron leader.
