1/48 Dragon Heinkel HE 162 A–2

Heinkel HE 162 A – 2.

This aircraft was one of the few “Wolksjager” which fought against allied fighters: Ltn. Rudolf Schmitt of JG 1 declared one Typhoon kill on 24th of April 1945 with this “white one”.

The starting kit is an old Dragon in 1/48 scale.  The engine is visible and highly detailed.

Many small particulars such as steel tube for 20 mm. Cannons, resin wheels ecc. were added.

The cockpit is totally modified with scratch pieces and photoetched part (Eduard).

I was inspired for painting by the profile on page 122 of “Planes of the Luftwaffe fighter aces” (Kookaburra edition).

I usually use a mix of Gunze acrilics for matching the chips of  the “Official Monogram painting guide”: in my opinion one of the very few colouring references for a modellist who wants to represent German aircraft of WW 2.
