1/72 Heller Lockheed L-749 Constellation

Gallery Article by Tadeu Pinto Mendes

Here's my Pan American World Airways Lockheed L-749 Constellation.

History:
The Constellation was one of the rare airplanes that knew how to combine so much success in the civil area as well as the military. It appeared in military form as the C-69 and later it entered in the civil aviation side with great success until finishing in the Super Constellation. Of the several versions, the L-749 was the one that had more reach and potency of the version short. It could make direct flight between New York to Paris for example.

Model:
This is the Heller kit, of which this mark had already thrown it in the colors of TWA and Air France. It is a simple model but it needs plenty weight in the nose to keep the nose gear on the ground.

Painting:
I decided to paint mine in the markings of Pan American World Airways (Pan Am). It had a predominant color of Aluminum, followed by White (FS 17925), Black (37038) and Dark blue.
