Here is my recently built Vintage Models 1/48 Savoia Marchetti SM.79 Sparviero. The model is finished as an aircraft based in the Mediterranean theatre, circa 1942-43, from the 36 Stormo Aero Silurante.
The construction required a lot of elbow grease, filling and sanding. The model was undoubtedly difficult to build, but it is the only game in town. The resin walls are very thick and they show through the door opening. The vacuum-formed windows were too small to fill the space provided in the resin frames. The lower gondola is too small for the fuselage opening. The cowlings are too wide open - they don't taper in as the real aircraft. Eli Raphael |
