1/48 Revell Messerschmitt Bf110G-2

--------------------

This kit was issued by Revell in three versions, an early G-2 of ZG-1, a G-2 bomber interceptor, and a nightfighter G-4 in the Promodeller series.

The difference between the first two is the nose armament and Revell include a resin replacement for the early version. The latter comes with full antenna array as well as the larger rudders of the G-4. For my model, I only had the bomber interceptor version to hand and so modified the nose myself, adding Aires resin mg15's.

Construction was very easy only a little putty was used around the engine nacelles. Cockpit detail is more than adequate and only the hard core will bother with any aftermarket bits here. An Aires mg81Z replaced the kit piece, although I'm not sure this a/c didn't just carry an mg15 in this position. Bombs came from the spares box.

Decals came from Cutting Edge CED48046 and represent a a/c of I/SKG.210. The wespe decal is a little too small and the "A" should likely be green, of course I found that out after completion. Bombs came from the spares box.

The model was painted with MM RLM76 and Aeromaster 74/75, although I lightened the uppersurface colors quite a bit for a more faded effect. Weathering is done with pastels and the whole model was given a very light dusting of 76 to tone down the decals and give a more faded look.
