Tuesday,    Dec 31   2013                    Happy New Year Everyone!!!
JJ Chen joins us from China to honor the upcoming Year of the Horse Horse with his 1/48 Tamiya Mustang IV.   JJ chose an RAF Mustang wearing noseart refecting it's anti-Doodlebug role in the later stages of the war.  Very nicely done JJ.

Tanel Kask did an amazing job finishing and lighting his 1/144 Revell Boeing 737-53A BBJ.  Tanel added quite a few lights in various colors to give his Canadian jet quite the dramatic and realistic look.  Lighting a model is not an easy job, but Tanel got the lights this one looking perfect.

Phenix joins us from Thailand with this beautifully done 1/48 Roden AU-23A.  This is a Royal Thai Air Force Peacemaker with a sharks mouth and finished in a 2 tone gray camo.  I love the combination of the sharks mouth and gray camo and RTAF markings.

Miron Melzer detailed and finished the 1/144 Revell F/A-18 E Super Hornet to a very high level.  Miron has darkened the panel lines and given his Super Hornet a full weapons load and then finished it in hi-viz markings and then set it up on a tarmac display base.  Wow......truly amazing work and hard to believe this is 1/144.

Carmel J. Attard has built and finished his 1/72 Pavla Typhoon Mk1 B to his usual very high standard.  The choice of markings was fascinating as this is the Tiffie flown by RAF W/Cdr D.E Gillam.  Carmel has included the history of the Typhoon and it's teething problems as well as the full history of the highly decorated career of W/Cdr D.E Gillam.  It's a great looking model and his article is a fascinating read.

Bartosz Piotrowski has done an outstanding job finishing and weathering his 1/72 Heller Mirage 2000D.  Bartosz chose the markings that includes some of the more interesting artwork worn by the Mirage 2000.  No doubt about it.....this is one excellent looking Mirage.

Slovenia Independence Day

Shawn "phantom" Weiler has expertly rebuilt his 1/48 Hasegawa F-14A Tomcat.  This model suffered a bad crash which gave Shawn the excellent opportunity to rebuild it using Steel Beach decals and donor parts from another kit.  Shawn has included a photo of his F-14 Christmas ornament....how cool it that.

Vince Pedulla is here with part 2 or his 7 part Skyraider series.  This skillfully weathered 1/48 Tamiya A-1J “Sandy” is a USAF bird in SEA camo has just the perfect amount of sun fading from the hot tropical climate it operated in.  I have enjoyed the first 2 parts of this 7 part series and I eagerly looked forward to part 3.

Richard Spreckley (RMCS) has done quite the stellar job on his 1/48 Airfix Sea Vixen FAW 2.  Richard used the Airwaves wing fold set along with white metal under carriage and Neomega resin cockpit.  The markings were a very interesting choice......this is the last flying Sea Vixen in the Royal Navy.

Kenya Independence Day

Carmel J Attard has been busy building the vac-u-formed 1/72 Airmodel C-123 Provider.  Carmel sourced out the needed parts and scratchbuilt the parts he didn't have to get this very attractive C-123 finished to a very high level and the red and white USCG scheme looks good on any aircraft.  It is quite fascinating to read what was involved to build this impressive and very attractive model.

Michael Hickey added an Aires Cockpit Set and added resin Rocket Launchers and Napalm Pods  to his New Mexico ANG 1/48 Trumpeter F-100C Super Sabre.  This jet was called "MISS MYNOOKIE" during it's time in Vietnam.  Michael found the build process to be quick and trouble free and the finished model has the perfect look for a jet serving in this tropical climate.

Dragan Cvetic has done quite a bit of scratchbuilding to detail his 1/72 Italeri UH-1H.  Dragan added most of the cockpit details including new armored seats, seatbelts and a new detailed instrument panel and the middle consoles with instruments and switches and even added exterior details such as wire cutters and more.  Quite an exceptional level of detail for 1/72.

“Danny” Yifei Zhao has built a very interesting 1/72 Academy B-17G Little Miss Mischief.  This particular aircraft is the combination of two seriously battle damaged B-17s, so you will see the model is partly bare metal and partly olive drab.  Danny tells the story in his article as well as what was involved to build this very unique model.

Gregor de Ste Croix has hit the mark with his 1/48 Airfix Bf109F-4.  Gregor  built this one straight out of the box and proved these older kits turn into great looking models.  And of course the desert camo always looks great to my eyes.

Ronald Beelen is here with his East German 1/48 Trumpeter MiG 21F-13.  Ronald used a mixture of decals including some from Eduard.  I love the choice of camo Ronald chose to finish his DDR MiG.  This MiG looks fast even on the ground and Ronald captured the look perfectly.
