When Twobobs received
reference pictures of this particular jet it was something they just
"had to do"! The Marines have been coming out with some
very interesting paint schemes as of late and this scheme definitely
fits the bill of being something unique. Borrowing some
inspiration from the Keith Ferris schemes that we've seen before, the
folks at VMFA-312 painted this jet up on their last cruise.
Sgt David Sorensen of
VMFA-312 was the brainchild of this scheme and he basically just
"winged it" when he laid this one up. Jagged disruptive
patterns adorn this jet top and bottom but the crowning jewel of this
scheme is the "Fights On" text that is on the upper fuselage.
This sheet is unique in that
both 32nd and 48th scale markings are both on the same sheet and only
one jet is featured.
Reference pictures were
provided by none other than Greg Davis, photojournalist extraordinaire!
Greg's photos are plastered all over the back of this instruction sheet
to help the modeler and even more can be seen in an upcoming issue of
Koku-Fan magazine!
