  Philippines Independence Day 2009

As a medical consultant in one of our country's tertiary hospitals, I spend almost all of my day seeing patients. Free time is mostly spent with my growing family. As such, there is little (and indeed precious) hours spent for our beloved hobby. For a quick and easy build I sometimes go for those 1/144 aircraft kits from Dragon or Revell.

Here's my latest that I had actually finished over the weekend. This is one of Dragon's F/A-18E Super Hornet. With only a quick build in mind, I made this one straight out of the box. Even by just using Tamiya acrylics, I figured a lot of my time was actually spent waiting for the paint to adequately dry. The livery I chose was for one of the birds of VFA-105 "Gunslingers". Since these kits have deep recessed lines, I opted to do minimal wash.

This is actually the third Dragon Super Hornet that I've built. The first two "microbugs" (as a friend once put it) were two seater F versions that I made sometime last year. One of which to my surprise won First Place in its category in the 6th IPMS Philippines Bert Anido Scale Modeling Competition.
