I added the AIRES resin cockpit set, absolutely fantastic, and the motors n.°4118,
are very well
represented.
After filling and sanding the model, I was ready for the painting
stage: I usually paint the model entirely in flat black, and then I start
with the darkest color of the camouflage.
After the flat black, comes the RAL 7021 (FS 6044) a single
panel after another so that to leave the panel lines looking dark due tot
he black paint.
Then I mask those areas with the first color of camo (brown) and
get ready to paint the second camo color. Tamiya tape is used
for marking. I paint the second camo color RAL 6003 (FS 4082), and finally with the Green FS 4079.
The
camouflage is applied over the entire aircraft, and once dry I apply the black
wash that I then remove with a damp cloth from the whole model.
Next coesm a clear gloss coat as
base for the decals.
I bought The ICARUS DECALS n.°48003, very beautiful and complete, for
the Phantoms and Starfighters all in Hellenic markings!!!
Naturally this whole procedure is effected also for the various subsets
as the reservoirs, the armament etc. Every time that I apply the decals I
makes thigns easier by using Mr. Mark decal softener from Gunze, which helps the decals to stick
perfectly to the surface of
the model. Once this is done, I
apply another cleear coaat to seal in the decals.
Then I apply a dull clear coat with weathering to dirty things up a bit
with a black wash and Tamiya dust powder.
I hope that you like the job....
