This
is the Airfix 1.24 scale Stuka in its Heller guise. I built it almost straight
from the box with my only additions being some harnesses and extra plumbing for the
engine. I used Humbrol enamels throughout to paint it and I preshaded the
airframe before its final colours which were lightened with white to give them a
sun bleached look. The mottled finish was sprayed freehand with my new badger
150 airbrush, (my first attempt at this). I had intended to close all the access
panels, but struggled to get them all to fit neatly, so I displayed the engine
compartment partly open. The model is weathered with pastel chalks and the paint
chips were added using a silver pencil. The wheel spats and undersides were
dusted with the same colour as the display base. This is a fantastic kit, it took
about six months to complete and I enjoyed every minute of it. I like these 1.24
scale Airfix kits, I had built the FW190 a few years
ago (my last brush painted kit), and I am
currently half way through the Spitfire MK1 with all panels closed which I hope
to post an article about. Thanks for looking.
