REPUBLIC
Co. is the company famous for producing the sturdy fighter bombers such as the P-47 Thunderbolt in WWII and F-105 Thunderchief in
the Vietnam war. The F-84 Thunderjet is the first
practical jet developed and produced by
Republic Co.
Its style had the image from the former reciprocating engine aircraft
with the straight wings. The exhaust system was the center engine layout which took the air from
the nose of the aircraft. It was emitted a jet of liquid fuel with the air from the
air intake through the engine placed in the center of the fuselage.

The
first trial F-84 aircraft succeeded in the maiden flight in Feb. 1946,
then the second prototype established the new max speed record of an
American aircraft, 978km/h in Sept. 1946.
The
G
type was introduced into Korean war and had a hard dog fight with the new and
powerful jet, Mig. However the G type played an important role as an ground attacking because of
its special features such as the long cruising range.
The 1/48 scale TAMIYA
kit is a stupendous kit, in negative very elegant,
and from the excellent quality. Despite
these good qualities, I have wanted to
improve it, using the CMK resin set n° 4023 for the cockpit
and I very much appreciated the control surfaces that were included in this set.
I finally purchased the limited edition CUTTING EDGE decal sheet n°
CED48110, to represent a military F-84G of the aeronautics
Italian,
more precisely her acrobatic of the TIGRI BIANCHE
part of the 51° wing, working from the Aviano airport in 1955-1956.
The painting once performed, naturally required me to ruin the paint to
get that weathered chipped peeling paint look. I then gave it a shiny varnishfinish, and then I have
painted certain panels with opaque varnish so there would ba a difference from
one panel to another.
I
hope you like....
