Hello
there! I'm back with something completely different! It's about the
marvellous 1/48 Tamiya F-84G model painted in Hellenic Air Force colours. The model represents an aircraft from the acrobat squadron
"Hellenic Flame" during the early 60's. The actual plane
is now part of the collection of the Hellenic Air Force Museum of Tatoi,
Athens, Greece. The kit is really of excellent detail and
outstanding quality with beautifully represented recessed lines, fully
detailed cockpit and avionics compartment, u/c wells etc.

The
only improvements made on the model concern the seat belts (made from
thin aluminium foil) and some wiring in the u/c wells and avionics
area. The model was painted with Humbrol and Testors enamels from
the metaliser range. The weathering was kept in a relatively low
level so as not to disrupt the natural metal finish of the aircraft.
Some
pictures of the cockpit and other details of the aircraft. The
overall detail and fit of the model was excellent, so I hardly used any
filler.
Take
a close look at the seven (!!!) different metallic shades used on the
model! The only differences from the "normal" F-84Gs of the
Hellenic Air Force were the yellow thunders on the wingtips and the
blue-white-red straps at the back of the fuselage. Enjoy the photos
and...keep on modelling!!!
