1/48 Hasegawa Tomcats

Each of them - Jolly Rogers

by Shawn Phantom Weiler

--------------------

Here are a bunch of Jolly Rogers tomcats. All but one is a 1/48 Hasegawa Tomcat, either a A or a B model. The second photo is the only exception. Second photo being the BIG one down below)

That one is a Tamiya 1/32 scale Tomcat built COMPLETELY out of the box including kit decals.

The first photo (above), was just finished for the Gulf war group build. It is the standard issue Hasegawa Atlantic fleet boxing, the only add ons were tape seat belts. And of course the in-flight display stand brought to you by Canadian tire.

The display stand is actually a product which is supposed to be used to ripen bananas. The reason it was built wheels up is simple. I mailed the original wheel assembly to Alabama. So now I had an excuse to do an in-flight model. It was not all that hard, easier then I excepted really. The decals are the VERY hard to find Superscale 48-438.

Photos 3 and 4 are the final cruise paint schemes and both decals are from VF decals. The intake covers are both from steel beach and the exhaust covers are both tin foil painted in the right colour.

Photo 5 uses Yellow hammer markings from around 2001. Photo 6 is Hasegawa including the Santa decals out of the box.

Photo 7 uses a Verlindin detail set, and superscale decals. This was my first "advanced modeller syndrome" build, its around 10 or 12 years old now.

Photo 8 was built a year or two ago for the first Tomcat group build. Using VF decals. Photo 9 uses the VERY hard to find Aero Master CVW-8 set. (BTW if anyone has the VS-24 Viking sheet your not using please PM me)

10 is obviously not a Tomcat, its the Tamiya Corsair, OOB including the decals.

11 is a Monogram Crusader using superscale decals from WAY back.

12 is a PHANTOM, I have a few VF-84 Phantoms, but this is the best one. I THINK the decals were Yellow hammer.

13 is the replacement. The un(der) loved son. The Hasegawa Super Hornet, It is using a combination of Hobbydecal dry stencils and kit decals.
