1/720 Revell USS Enterprise

Here's some photos of my USS Enterprise aircraft carrier.  The only parts I used from the kit were the hull, flight deck, and the four elevators.  The super structure is completely scratchbuilt as the kit super structure comes with the old cone type structure.  I estimate I have about 200 pieces into the super structure itself.  The forward stancions on the port  and starboard side of the bow were also scratchbuilt.  I used Gold Metal Models USN Supercarrier photo etched set.  The aircraft kits are from Fujimi and Trumpeter.  The wings all had to be cut and folded prior to painting.  The airwing does'nt represent any particular Enterprise airwing.

I thought I would try for the first time making a water diorama.  Fine Scale Modeler had a great and inexpensive article on making a water diorama so I wanted to try this.  The wake is not quite the best but with some experimenting its not bad.  Just need some more practice I guess.

The model was painted with Model Master acrylics.  Overall it was a fun project.  I just wanted a nice aircraft carrier model for the shelf.  Or maybe it is a practice run for the 1/350 Tamiya Enterprise in the closet.  Hmmmm.  Hope you enjoy the pictures.
