This is the
excellent Hasegawa Hs 129 B-2. The kit was built out of the box with the
only additions being brake lines made from fuse wire, antennae wire made from
synthetic thread and Eduard seat belts. The model was painted in a North
African scheme.

I did not have
any reference for this one and really just wanted to paint the kit different
then the standard splinter camouflage. I may have been able to acquire
some special markings but opted to stick with what I had available so I used the
marking from the kit. I liked the over all look of the model and was happy
with the way it turned out.
The painting process began with
preshading all the panel lines with matte black, then I applied the RLM 65 to
the underside and brought it up on the fuselage sides. I allowed the RLM
65 to dry and then masked the sides to apply the RLM 79 to the entire upper
surface. The RLM 79 was then carefully lightened using a paint fading
technique which I lighten the base colour and then apply it to the centre of the
panels. Once I have done this I then blend it all in by misting a very
diluted coat of the base colour back over the faded areas. I proceeded to
apply the RLM 80 Olive green mottling, when I was finished I toned down the
camouflage with a very diluted RLM 79. The aircraft was then sprayed with
Johnson's Shine Magic for a tough glossy finish. I applied the decals, re
glossed it and then applied a very thin ink wash of burnt umber to all the panel
lines. I also applied some exhaust streaks, oil stains, and paint
chipping. The Paint chips were done with a No. 2 lead pencil, and a silver
pencil. I like this method because it gives me more control. The
final process was matte coating the entire model using a mixture of Tamiya Flat
Base and Johnson's Shine Magic.
