Some great 1/48
aircraft kits may never get to my attention unless I buy them for a bargain
price, which is the case of the F-14B that I present here.

This is a typical
Hasegawa kit with fine engravings, sparse cockpit details, bad fit of
sub-assemblies, a realistic looking cockpit ladder and some other photo etch and
white metal parts included that builds into an impressive representation of the
real aircraft.
I used Aeromaster
decals instead of the original decals ruined during a wet attic spell. Painting
the model was the major thrust in the building process. I love the weathered
look of old work horses. The oil and dirt traces of wing fold mechanism is a
challenge to mimic (that many modelers avoid for a good reason.) It could look
much worse.
