1/72 Testors Mi-25

Mi-25 Peruvian Air Force, 2th Aerial Group
"Maj. Guillermo Protzel" Air Base, Vitor, Peru

Testors kit is old, really good in shape and surfaces, but the weaponry is bad, originally was Mi-24D and had Soviet markings.  

Modifications:

  • Bending of all rotor blades.

  • Change and modification of pitot tube.

  • Addition of two windshield wipers.

  • Change of all subwing weaponry, from other from Dragon set "Modern Soviet aircraft weapons,set 3" consisting of:

    • Four UB-32-57 rocket pods and four 9M114 Shturm missiles.

  • Change of both engine exhaust.

  • Addition of two wires, made of stretched plastic.

Painting:
Typical desert camouflage consisting in Field Drab (FS 30118), Armour Sand (FS 30227) and Duck Egg Blue (FS 35622), cockpit painted in "Soviet sky blue".

Decals: 
Southern Flying Tigers of Albatros Modelworks.

Peruvian hinds were bought since 1984,based at Vitor Air Base, proved to be a ferocious enemy in COIN actions (against Shining Path and MRTA) and tactical support (Cenepa conflict).

These Hinds are really impressive, the "sharkmouth" always cause the same reaction....

I dedicate this work to my little nephews Daniel and Andres.
