MIG-21 MF Angolan Air Force

Hey Fellows!!!

Here is my new concluded project…

It is the MIG-21 MF “African MIG” Fujimi 1/72.

The Angolan AF received several of the fighters in 1976 ti be used in the initial phases of the “War of the Bushes” against to South Africa Forces.

The MIG-21 where operated by Cuban Pilots with no so good results.

In this years, the “MF’s” used an “over painted” scheme in sand/light green/ AC blue… In this aircraft are not visible stencil, with the rudder stripes painted with the national colors and the serial in the nose, without national emblems in the wings.

The C-48 was delivered to Angola in 1976, and was damaged in a hard landing (Hydraulic failure 1980?) with the Ct. Benigno Cortes in the cockpit. The scene was photographed, and is the only one picture of African MF’s, with 4 missile “Atoll” under wings.

The kit is very good but was updated with a lot of aftermarket pieces:

  • Eduard: Photo Edge

  • Pavla: KM-1 Seat

  • Master Model: Pitot Tube

  • Elf: Rubber Wheels

  • Quick Boost: All correction parts (Tail fin, stabilizer, nose cone, air scoops, etc)

The kit was painted with K-4 Acrylics, and was used Berna Model decals.

Happy Modeling….
