This is the MiG-3 from
Trumpeter in 1:48 scale. I used Eduard photo etched parts for interior, landing flaps
and some other details were added. Eduard Masks were used for canopy painting.
Decals are original from the kit.

The kit is
assembled as provided without any structural changes or corrections.
I wanted to build
a plane flown by Pokryshkin just at the war outbreak. However, there are
no photos or other info somehow confirming the real appearance that this
was his
plane. There is not even a consensus about the board number. So I chose
the MiG-3 standard appearance from the summer of 1941 board number from discussed
possibilities.
The model is
airbrushed with AKAN Acrylics AII Green and AII Blue, A-14 for interior,
Alluminium Alclad for propeller.
Central metal
surface was airbrushed with very slightly lightened AII Green and
difference against the wooden parts was enhanced by a bit more Revell
Matt. I really appreciated EDUARD Mask. It fits to the canopy very
well and it speeds up painting the canopy frames significantly.
Weathering is
minimal. The plane was maintained regularly before the war. After the
outbreak of war it was destroyed quite soon, not enough time to weather
significantly. Tamiya Panel Line Accent Color (different mixes of
black/brown and grey) and MIG pigments were used.
Best regards,
Michal Sekula
