I got into model this hobby because of my big brother. He was definately my main influence.

I remember him brining home the Airfix Hercules and the box art was, well WOW!.
The original artwork of the RAF Hercules in its tropical camoulage with a Blood Hound SAM being loaded has always been one of my all time favourites.

That was the inspiration for this build. The kit is the Italeri kit with Eduard's inteior and exterior sets added. I also added replacement resin engines from Heritage Aviation.
I scratch built the cargo hold interior with Milliput to represent the quilted soundproofing, plastic rod and strip and more stuff from the spares box.

The kit's panel lines were raised, so I engraved them.

The decals are after market ones by Airdecal

The Blood Hound SAM is the original Airfix one. I refined the detail on the missile and added decals from the good old spares box.

The transport trailer had more detailed wheels from the spares box.

The Landrover is a diecast one which is a lot more detailed than any kit available, and also, it was in yellow with "Royal Air Force" printed on the side, so I just applied a strip of masking tape and painted it.

The model was painted in Xtracolour enamels.

Just after finishing the model, it fell off my work bench and split the fuselage along the join.

I managed to salvage the model and repair it so the join only shows in a few small places.
