During the holiday of Hanukah, this
year the convention was held in the light of the huge forest fire that cost
Israel the lives of 42 persons and burned trees and homes in the Carmel region
of northern Israel, not too far from the city of Haifa.

The fire was put down with the help of fire fighting airplanes and
helicopters flown in from Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, England, United States,
Russia, France and Spain. This occasion also showed the world that there
is a chance of peace and good will between Israel and its neighbors as
firefighters volunteered to fight the fire came from Bulgaria as well as
Jordan, Egypt and the Palestinian Authority. This fire gave Israeli
airplane enthusiasts the opportunity to photograph firefighting airplanes
from several countries and the promise from the government of Israel to
purchase aircraft such as these.
Photos of firefighting airplanes go
to Nir Ben Yosef, Yehuda Borovik, Rami Mizrachi, and Ori Voll.
Yours,
Yoav Efrati
