Most modelers are familiar with Monogram venerable F-100D. Even by today’s standards, the kit still holds its own for overall shape and level of detail.
This is my second attempt at the F-100D and I wanted it to be an improvement on the first, so I added the Legend Productions resin cockpit, scribed the panel lines (and made a few corrections) and used aftermarket decals from
Superscale.

I painted the model with Alclad Aluminium and the engine area with Testors Metalizer Burnt Metal, Alclad Pale Burnt Metal, Clear Blue and Clear Red to capture the multicoloured effect of the real aircraft.
Panel lines were highlighted with a dark gray wash.
Since I was modeling a Vietnam-era jet, I armed it with M117 and MK82’s from the Hasegawa Weapons A set.
I also scratch built swaybraces and did some corrections to the inboard pylons.
Decals are from Super Scale and represent Lt Col Hal Comstock’s aircraft from 481st
TFS/27th TFW.
