Force had the F-82 Mustang, why should the U.S. Navy not have a Twin Corsair?

Chance Vought built
a prototype aircraft mating the two fuselages and added a third aviator for the
advanced search radar.
The two pilots were
able to share the flying on the long time missions. The plane was still able to
be flown from carriers and land bases by Marine pilots.
Unfortunately, WWII
ended and the program was cancelled leaving the USAF F-82 with the long range
mission.
