Photos directly below were taken on June 26, 2001 in the Confederate Air Force hanger in Lancaster Texas. The restored Corsair was originally an FG-1D built by Goodyear. After the employees of Chance Vought (now Northrup Grumman) restored this Corsair, it was given the designation of F4U-1D. For many years it flew with a checker board nose and the number 13 on the side. It has been recently repainted in the color scheme of VMF-312 the Checkerboards. According to the Checkerboards web site http://www.f4ucorsair.com/corsairpage/312.html 1st Lt. M. O. Chance flew Corsair 530.
