Here's a review of a new release from TwobobsThis is another in the Twobobs series of decals featuring aircraft from the various USAF Fighter Weapons Schools.  This sheet features markings for three complete F-16C's from the 57th Wing of the Nellis AFB Fighter Weapons School. The Air Force originally activated 57th Fighter Wing on 20 September 1948 up in Alaska.  On 15 October 1969, the Air Force activated the wing as the 57th Fighter Weapons Wing, stationed at Nellis AFB with a new mission: providing graduate-level fighter pilot training and demonstration of tactical fighter weapons systems and tactics using F-4, F-100, F-105, and F-111 aircraft.  The mission of the 57th Wing is to provide advanced aerospace training to worldwide combat air forces and showcase aerospace power to the world.

This sheet includes a full set of markings including stencils and for all three CC and DCC jets from the 57th Wing of the Nellis AFB Fighter Weapons School.   The three jets include;

  • F-16C Block 52 CCIP Upgrade from December 2006
  • F-16C Block 52 from December 2006
  • F-16C Block 52 CCIP Upgrade from December 2006

CCIP is the Common Configuration Implementation Program.  This modification is being completed to standardize the cockpits and capabilities in all the aircraft.  The biggest external clue to this mod are the APX-133 air-to-air interrogator blades in front of the windscreen.  These aircraft can also carry both the Lantirn and Litening Pod as well as the Lockheed Martin Sniper XR Advanced FLIR Pod

A resin CCIP Upgrade is available from Shawn Hull at http://www.shull24.com

If you're going to build one of these then Twobobs suggests the following kits and aftermarket detail items.

1/72nd Scale
  • Hasegawa F-16C
  • Italeri F-16C
  • Fujimi F-16C
  • CMK Accessories
  • Eduard Accessories
  • Aires Accessories
  • True Details Ejection Seat

The instructions are clear and include 4 views of each aircraft.  The decals are beautifully printed on 1 decal sheet.  Paint codes are called out in FS #'s, Testors MM, Humbrol, Gunze Sangyo and Xtracrylics.

The decals are the usual high quality we have come to enjoy from TwobobsThese jets are in the standard 2 tone gray F-16 paint scheme with black markings.  One jet has a white outline for the big "WA" and numbers on the tail.  All three Vipers on this sheet have yellow and black checked fin flashes at the top of their tails.

The instructions also include 4 view color drawings of these jets showing stencils placement and these jets are covered with stencils.

Special thanks for marking this sheet possible goes to Don Logan.

I would like to thank Twobobs for this review sample.

This sheet is available through the Twobobs website and select US Hobby Shops.  Overseas customers can purchase these from Twobobs site or through Twobobs network of overseas distributors.
