It took little longer than I expected, but the promised set for Japanese Army Aircraft Captured by Yanks in 1/48 scale is here.  Not due to Rising Decals (small Czech manufacturer) delayed release, but due to my move to my new home.  Finally settled in and I will have quite few exciting decal sets for you soon.  Similar to its "smaller brother"(1/72 RD72005) this set includes decals (complete with US National insignias) for 5 aircraft :
  • Ki-44-II Hei "Tojo" (s/n 2068) tested by TAIU-SWPA as aircraft No.11 at Clark Field, Philippines, June 1945
  • Ki-44-II Hei "Tojo" (s/n unknown) from Iwakuni AB, Yamaguchi Pref., Japan, October 1945
  • Ki-61-I Ko "Tony" (s/n uknown) "Flying Toy" of VMF 322, Kadena AB, Okinawa, May 1945
  • Ki-61-I Ko "Tony" (s/n 263) tested by TAIC as aircraft No.9 at NAS Anacostia, Washington D.C., 1944
  • Ki-84-I "Frank" (s/n 1446) tested by TAIU-SWPA as aircraft No.17 at Clark Field, Philippines, June 1945

Gallery mainpage Ad on leftside at top The instruction sheet is in English and nicely shows the placement of the decals as well as suggested Colors (The Gunze Mr. Color range). Also listed are all the references and suggested kits (there is a small typo refering to available 1/72 kits).

The sheet comes in 2 parts and is very well printed. Even the smallest unit symbols and signs are very crisp. Recommended to anyone who is looking for unusual color schemes of these popular Japanese Army Fighters. Don't hesitate to get these while they are available (the Dying Sun part II. in 1/72 is completely sold-out and I had no chance to send their review on time).

The decals are available at www.Hannants.co.uk and at www.Flightdecs.ca . You can also go directly to the new website www.risingdecals.com to see what is coming out next.  I have received a few more new samples, so I will bring them to you very soon.  Thanks goes to Mirek Karnik for supplied samples ! The research job well done!

Radek
