four different Fw-190's. This is Part 1 of a series dealing with the
Fw-190 in Luftwaffe markings from the summer of 1942 in France to the final
months of WW2 and includes the markings for a pilot that ended the war
with 224 kills to his credit. The
first plane is a Fw-190 A-3, Yellow 1, flown by Oblt. Erich Rudorffer,
Staffelkapitan 6/JG2, Beaumont le Roger/France on August 19 1942.
Rudorffer survived the war and ended up with 224 kills to his credit by
wars end. This
aircraft has a yellow rudder and a yellow panel under the engine cowling. The second plane is a
Fw-190 A-7, White 9, flown by Obfw Adolf Glunz, 5/JG26,
Camblai-Epinog/France 1943. Glunz was awarded the Ritterkreuz on Aug 29
1943 with 39 kills and ended the war with 72 kills. He has a unique
record of never being shot down during combat. This
aircraft has a yellow rudder and a yellow panel under the engine cowling.
The third plane is a Fw-190
D-9, flown by Oberst Hans Ulrich Rudel, Kdore. SG 2, Grossen-hain/Germany
in April 1945. Oberst Rudel was the only recipient of the Golden Oak
Leaves to Ritterkreuz.
